In Service Placement (Commercial Cooking/Patisserie Studies)

These courses include an industry day release from week six (6) of Semester one (1). This is work experience which normally leads to casual employment throughout the remainder of the course.

The In Service Placement forms part of the evidence gathering required of these courses. The evidence which is required to be gathered throughout the In Service Placement is documented in your Portfolio which is supplied to you once your Placement has been confirmed. You are required to present your Portfolio to your Lecturer on a weekly basis as proof of attendance and your achievements in the workplace.

The Portfolio is to be completed, signed and returned to the school prior to final subject outcomes being determined.

In Service Placement” Procedures
Prior to commencement, you are required to meet the School’s qualifying criteria for “In Service Placement”. The criteria upon which students are assessed are identified below:-
1) Have successfully completed the first five (5) weeks of practical skills training and achieved the required competencies in each area.
2) Have a satisfactory attendance and punctuality record.
3) Have maintained appropriate personal and uniform presentation during studies.

Once you have met all of the qualifying criteria, the School will arrange an interview with a suitably identified host establishment. The "In Service Placement" should commence in week 6 of Semester 1. In accordance with Australian Government regulations a formal agreement must be signed between the School and your Host establishment which sets out the terms of conditions of your "In Service Placement".

Students are not permitted to change their arranged "In Service Placement" under any circumstances. Students who fail to attend their "In Service Placement" will be in breach of their Student Visa requirements and will be reported to DIAC.

Important Note
If you do not meet the requirements of the "In Service Placement" you will fail to demonstrate the competencies required of this placement and therefore will be unable to complete your Portfolio. This will result in you not meeting Course requirements.
