The Library may be used by staff and enrolled students only and has been established to provide all students with access to up to date texts, journals, industry magazines, videos, on-line Internet access and CD's. The materials are provided for you to read and make reference to in your research and study and should be maintained in good order. It is to be used as a Library - this delineates that no materials or resources that belong to the Library may be taken out on loan.
A librarian will provide research and study support to students during orientation and at scheduled sessions during the semester. Please check the electronic student signage and myASM for session details.
The following Libraries are available: 1. ASM Reference Library. A collection of in excess of 1000 hardcopy resources that include all required texts, recommended texts, supporting texts, journals, industry magazines and reference materials.
2. Access to Cengage Learning eLibrary databases. This extensive library resource for students includes access to a number of comprehensive databases specifically selected as appropriate learning resources for the Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Business in Hotel Management.
3. Access to the InfoRMIT eLibrary databases that includes unlimited access to the RMIT online library and all associated resources.
Library Rules: 1) No food or drinks are to be taken into the Library 2) No person shall mark, deface or damage any book or resource in the Library. The Fine imposed for such conduct shall be the amount that the Managing Director may see as reasonably fit to make good the loss, damage or any other expense to the School caused by that person. 3) Talking shall be kept to a minimum and at a low level within the designated times, showing respect for other users of the Library. 4) Students must leave all personal items such as bags, in the area provided outside the Library.
Important Note: All materials in the Library contain an embedded security chip and an alarm will sound if any person attempts to leave the area with one of these items. It will be considered a serious breach of academic behaviour if any student removes or attempts to remove any item from the Library. Any student found to be in possession of a Library item outside of the Resource Centre may have their enrolment at the School immediately cancelled.
