Assessments are an important component of any education process. The school places an important emphasis on the type, style and design of assessments to ensure they are meaningful, current and appropriate to the requirements of the accredited course curriculum. In order to make the assessment process as seamless as possible the following procedures apply to all assessments:
1. Projects and Portfolios 1.1 Your Lecturer will issue you with the Feedback Cover Sheet and Assessment Cover sheet which must be attached to your assessment as follows:- - The Feedback Cover Sheet (Page 1) - The Assessment Cover Sheet (Page 2) 1.2 All assessments are required to be submitted by the due date to the Student Services Department. Assessments handed in late will not be accepted and will be required to be submitted as a first reassessment. 1.3 You will receive a signed Receipt Slip when handing in your assessments. Please keep all Receipts as evidence that you have submitted your assessments. 1.4 Your Lecturer will return the Feedback Cover Sheet to you once your assessment has been marked.
2. Practical Demonstrations, Knowledge Based Tests or Examinations To be eligible to complete any assessment the following conditions apply: 2.1 You must arrive 10 minutes prior to the scheduled assessment commencement time (latecomers will not be granted entry to the assessment) 2.2 You must be in the correct uniform 2.3 You must be wearing your Student ID Card 2.4 You must not be in possession of any books, notes or diagrams other than those which the examiners have specified may be taken into that particular examination 2.5 You must not directly or indirectly give assistance to any other student 2.6 You must not directly or indirectly accept assistance from any other student 2.7 You must not be guilty of any breach or good order of propriety 2.8 You must not communicate with a member of the teaching staff of the School on any matter relating to any examination between receipt of the examination paper and submission of the completed examination paper
3. Plagiarism (see also Plagiarism) - You must not permit any other student to copy from or otherwise use your work - You must not copy the paper of another student - You must not use any other improper means whatsoever to obtain, directly or indirectly, assistance to complete the examination paper
4. Penalties 4.1 A student who is detected committing a breach of any of the above provisions will be dismissed from participating in the assessment. 4.2 When a student is alleged to have committed a breach of any of the above provisions, the Head of Department will notify the School’s Management Committee of the breach. If found proven, the student, in addition to any other penalty imposed, will be excluded and be required to re-enrol in that Subject
5. Other Assessment Regulations 5.1 Students are required to obey any instructions given by the Assessor for the proper conduct of the assessment. 5.2 Students are not permitted to bring a mobile/cell phone or pager to the assessment. 5.3 Students are not permitted to bring a Personal Organiser, Electronic Dictionary and/or Electronic Translator to the assessment. 5.4 Programmable Calculators may be used in some assessments as defined by the assessment. 5.5 Students are not permitted to leave the assessment within the duration of the assessment unless for exceptional circumstances and will then be accompanied by a Supervisor. No assessment item will be accepted without both cover sheets attached and correctly completed.
