Governance

Perth Hospitality Professionals Pty Ltd, registered in 1989, is an Australian Company limited by guarantee trading as; the Australian School of Tourism and Hotel Management (ASTHM), Eurocentres Perth and offering approved Southern Cross University courses under an “Educational Collaboration” agreement.

Perth Hospitality Professionals Pty Ltd prime objective is to provide high quality education and training products and services to local and international students and corporate clients, whilst embracing a lifelong learning philosophy. The company prides itself on its excellent reputation, highly qualified staff, industry partners, curriculum, student support, state of the art facilities and student internships which overwhelmingly over time have resulted in positive employment outcomes for graduates of our courses.

Perth Hospitality Professionals Pty Ltd has an appointed Board of Directors, Management Committee, Industry Advisory Board, Southern Cross University Management Committee, New Course Advisory Board and Academic Board.

Boards and Committees

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors are appointed by the Shareholders of Perth Hospitality Professionals Pty Ltd in accordance with the company constitution and bylaws. The board of directors are appointed members who jointly oversee the activities of our organization. In accordance with the constitution, the board of directors are charged with:

• governing the organization by establishing broad policies and objectives;
• selecting, appointing, supporting and reviewing the performance of the chief executive;
• ensuring the availability of adequate financial resources;
• approving annual budgets;
• accounting to the shareholders for the organization's performance.

Management Committee

The Management Committee are appointed by the Board of Directors and are charged with a range of responsibilities including having input to the Strategic Direction of the organisation and seeing the visions and strategy being brought to life from an operational perspective. Management Committee Members are appointed for their unique Skill Sets.

Management Committee members are active in the day to day running of the school.

Academic Board

Under the authority of the Company Constitution of the Australian School of Management Pty Ltd (“the School”), the Academic Board is delegated responsibility by the Board of Directors for academic policy making, academic administration and oversight of the educational process pertaining to the operation of higher education courses.

The Academic Board determines academic policy and regulations and has responsibility for the achievement of educational objectives. Academic Board Members are appointed on a bi-annual basis.

New Course Advisory Panel

The New Course Advisory Panel members will provide links between the professions and Australian School of Management. The panel will provide advice by informing the work and attitude of the course and integrated academic units, thereby assisting Australian School of Management to provide for the professional relevance of its work.

New Course Advisory Panel members are expected to meet on at least 3 occasions with personal attendance in at least two of the meetings (teleconference links can be organised for at least one of the meetings). Members will have direct involvement both in the preparation and review of all documentation associated with the course design, accreditation and in the consideration of issues and concerns arising from the accreditation process.

A key consideration for the New Course Advisory Panel is to recommend courses to the Academic Board for submission to the State Registration Authority for accreditation. In addition New Course Advisory Members will be considered for membership of the Academic Board and Course Advisory Committee.

Industry Advisory Board


The Industry Education Advisory Board (WA) is a board jointly appointed by Southern Cross university and the Australian School of Tourism and Hotel Management. The board is made up of key industry professionals selected from a broad cross section of industry. Board members agree to the following charter;

• To provide input to the ASTHM/SCU on current and future education needs for the Tourism & Hospitality industries
• To offer guidance and suggestions on education, research and partnership opportunities
• To interact with academic staff to review the Australian School of Tourism & Hospitality Management and SCU’s existing and proposed programs
• To represent ASTHM & Southern Cross University to the industry
• To act as a “Brains Trust” and resource
• To provide input to students on the realities of the industry and future career opportunities
