About us

The Australian School of Tourism and Hotel Management ... Providing highly qualified and skilled graduates to the hospitality and tourism industry since 1989.

Message from the MD.
Managing Director Alan Williams

Wishing all of our students, clients and staff a successful and prosperous 2010!!

2009 was a significant year for ASTHM as it was the year we turned 20. Although we have now progressed from our teen years, the school has decided to formally celebrate its 21st during 2010. I encourage you to watch this website for further details of the events to be held throughout the year.

More importantly 2009 was also a year which saw many great achievements for staff, students and graduates of the school. 2009 saw the school make great strides towards bcoming a Non Self Accrediting Institution for Higher Education. In this regard I wish to sincerely thank our New Course Advisory Panel members who have effetively guided the school through the Higher Education Course design and approvals process. We are now in the throws of finalising the application to be in a position to submit to the State Registration Authority by 31st March 2010.

The school also transitioned entirely to the new SIT Training Package and this benefitted many students with a complete revision of our curriculum. On this note I wish to congratulate every student but in particular all 2009 graduates and scholarship award winners for their great achievemnets. I know you will all do us proud as our ambassadors in the future.

Commencing 1st July 2010 the school has also extended the space and facilities at 641 Wellington Street to now include all remaining space on the ground level and all of level 4 of the building. A total increase of 714 sqm. This additional space will allow us to expand our teaching areas, kitchen areas, library, computer labs and student learning areas. We anticipate the work to be completed and the facilities to be ready for use in early September 2010.

The ASTHM website is also about to undergo a significant facelift and integrate more with the ASTHM Facebook site. The student login will extend to a more sophisticated online learning and support web portal providing far greater student support and individual learning management tools.

Finally I also wish to take this opportunity to congratulate all of our graduates of 2009 and wish all of the new students a warm welcome for 2010. Please remember we take pride in listening to our students so please let us know if there is any way in which you feel we might improve our services and facilities to better serve you.

Yours in Education and Training

Alan Williams

Around the World with ASTHM
Director International Marketing Dianne Leslie

2008 was an extremely busy time for the International Marketing Department with 8 overseas visits to a number of different countries to promote ASTHM and Eurocentres Perth.  During 2009 the School’s international student body will continue to grow to represent 51 countries. A wide range of marketing activities will be conducted during the year to showcase Perth as a premier study destination as well as promoting careers in the hospitality and tourism industry.

Laura Browne, the School’s Admissions Manager is also assisting with the marketing and promotion of the School in the South East Asian Region and has visited Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia already this year.

I’ll be setting off again soon to participate in a number of events including Trade Fairs, Seminars and Interview Sessions which will enable potential students to meet with me in India, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea and Turkey.

So now as we head into 2009, I am looking forward to welcoming our new international students who will be joining us throughout the year and wish them happiness and success as they begin their studies at ASTHM.

I also wish our international graduates who complete their studies throughout 2009 the very best with their future careers and sincerely hope and trust that your time at ASTHM has been a rewarding time of your life.

Until next time….

Dianne Leslie
Director – International Marketing
