Event Management

The Australian School of Tourism and Hotel Management offers two qualifications in the area Hotel Management:

Diploma of Events
Australia's convention and event industry has been one of the fastest growing and contributes more than $8 billion to the national economy every year. Australia is developing a reputation as a destination that can bid for, manage and produce conventions and events of all shapes and sizes like the 2000 Olympics, Rugby World cup, Red Bull air race and Grand Prix.

The Diploma of Events has been developed with industry and offers a balanced integration of theory and practical through combining a number of carefully selected nationally recognised vocational units providing students an opportunity to put their learning into practice even while they complete their course.

Through our integrated work experience program, students also become familiar with the practicalities of working in the conventions and event industry in areas such as events sales, functions or events service and theming and staging. Students throughout the work experience program are required to develop their own leadership styles consistent with a Diploma level qualification.

The Diploma of Events is a vocational education certificate award. more
Australia’s convention and event industry has grown exponentially over the last decade, contributing more than $8 billion annually in direct and indirect spending to the national economy. The business of events and conventions continues to be one of the fastest growing sectors of the Australian tourism industry. This growth has been boosted by Australia’s increasing reputation as a destination that can bid for, manage and produce a large range of conventions, mega-events and regional festivals such as the 2000 Olympics and the Rugby World Cup.

Delivered in collaboration with Southern Cross University's School of Tourism and Hospitality Management the Bachelor of Business in Convention and Event Management has been developed in consultation with Australia’s industry and academic leaders in the field of convention and event tourism management. The program is structured to incorporate a balanced integration of University Studies and Nationally Registered Vocational Units covering industry specific topics relating to project management for convention and event tourism; theming and staging of events and conventions and software systems for business events.
